Customizing your Shimmerwall sequin panels is a great way to bring your creative ideas to life. Whether you're designing a unique backdrop, signage, or decor for an event, knowing how to cut the panels into specific shapes allows you to fully tailor the look to your vision. In our latest video, “How to Cut Sequin Panels Into Shapes,” we visually guide you through this process step by step. Here's a breakdown of the key steps for cutting your panels with precision.

Tools You’ll Need

Before starting, make sure you have the following tools ready:

  • Snips
  • Marker
  • Stencil

Step 1: Make Sure the Panel is Facing Up & Flip It So the Sequins Are Facing Down

Start by placing the sequin panel on a flat surface with the sequins facing up. Once you've ensured the panel is right-side up, flip it over so the sequins are facing down. This will allow you to work from the back of the panel, which is much easier for marking and cutting.

Step 2: Mark Stencil Outline Onto Back of Panel with a Marker

Use a stencil or freehand your design on the back of the panel using a marker. The back grid gives you a clear, stable surface to draw on, making it easier to follow your design without affecting the sequins themselves.

Step 3: Snip Along the Marked Line

Carefully snip along the line you marked. If you're unsure where exactly to cut, aim to include the closest sequin outside of the outline to keep the design intact. This ensures a cleaner, more polished look once the panel is flipped back over.

Step 4: Flip Over the Panel and Make Final Cuts

Once you've cut the general shape, flip the panel back over to the sequin side. Now, make any final adjustments or trims to clean up the edges and refine the shape. You want to ensure the sequin pattern remains even and aligned.
