When Selfridges teamed up with the legendary Sir Elton John, the goal was clear: to create an eye-catching visual merchandising display that embodied the glitz and glamour synonymous with both the department store and the music icon. To achieve this, Selfridges turned to Shimmerwalls, the leader in sequin wall installations for luxury brands and events. Together, we created a dazzling display featuring golden sequin walls and a magnificent golden sequin disco ball, both of which were designed to sparkle as brightly as Elton John’s iconic persona.
Shimmerwalls supplied Selfridges with 60 shimmer panels, totaling an incredible 7,260 sequins, to construct the gold sequin walls and disco ball centerpiece. The panels used in this project were the S30LT Cicrlce Yellow Gold Shimmer Click Populated Boards. These specific sequins were selected for their luxurious yellow-gold hue, perfect for reflecting light and creating a dynamic, shimmering effect that attracted shoppers and highlighted Selfridges’ stunning visual merchandising.
The gold sequin wall served as a high-impact backdrop, covering large areas of the display space, transforming the retail environment into a glimmering tribute to Elton John’s extravagant style. But the real highlight of this project was the creation of a large golden sequin disco ball, formed entirely from flexible sequin panels.
One of the standout features of Shimmerwalls' sequin panels is their flexibility. Although they are often used to create beautiful flat walls, the panels can also be shaped into three-dimensional structures, like the golden disco ball that was a focal point in the Selfridges display.
